Jesus - the Prophet - the Messiah - The King!!

From very early Jesus was seen as king. Jesus claimed a kingdom, not of this world.  He is king of his kingdom. He has and welcomes servants (followers) but his retinue is unique.  "The Kingdom of God/Heaven" was a major topic for Jesus. At the time many wrong (human) ideas about God's kingdom were prevalent. Jesus rejected use of force or compulsion.

Did Jesus Really NOT CARE for Her? (or, Martha's Mistakes)

Did Jesus actively care for Martha?

Martha, a kind, hard-working, and dutiful lady had to learn about what is better and to recognise, after all, that Jesus was truly caring for her. Luke gives us a brief compressed pericope, with two unusual words, and it comes with even some alternative (puzzling) clauses.

Jesus: and the disillusioned

A five loaves and two fish episode evidently made an impact! It is one of the few pericopes reported (variously) by all four of the Gospels.

At the common climactic point a small (child’s?) meal is being consumed by a huge company.

John makes it very clear this was a critical moment for the "general public" of that time and place. (To this I return below.)

Heaven

The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. (Paul, 1 Corinthians 15:47, NRSV).

Teacher

And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes. (Matthew 7:28-29, ESV)

Christ

Christ

Matthew has this account of a week of special significance to the Biblical understanding of Jesus:
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”  And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”  He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”  Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
