... Expecting a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ

Consider how Jesus and his first followers interpreted him as Saviour.  The following are a sample, not necessarily connected. All are better read in their original chapters. (I actually think it is best to read the entire document to get the full context.) Here is a collection from the NRSV:

Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news[i] of God,[j] 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near;[k] repent, and believe in the good news.”[l] Mark 1

10 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” - he said to the paralytic - 11 “I say to you, stand up, take your mat and go to your home.” Mark 2

17 When Jesus heard this, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.” Mark 2

35 Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.” Mark 3

27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Matthew 11

31 Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. Mark 8

45 For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Mark 10

22 While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” 23 Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, and all of them drank from it. 24 He said to them, “This is my blood of the[g] covenant, which is poured out for many. Mark 14

31 In the same way the chief priests, along with the scribes, were also mocking him among themselves and saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. Mark 15

34 At three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”[i]Mark 15

18 For this reason the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because he was not only breaking the sabbath, but was also calling God his own Father, thereby making himself equal to God. John 5

54 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; John 6

But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control (Philippians 3:20-21, NLT). added 20/06/24
